Hello! I’m a new follower, and I love your watercolors! I’m just wondering, how do you transfer your artwork from your paper to the computer? When I scan the pages of my sketchbook into the computer, they never come out as clear, and always have a partial gradient in the background…
Hi, thank you! For my scanning process I would make sure my paper/sketchbook would actually fit within the dimensions of my scanner (which is 8.5x11”), and weigh the cover down with a book to flatten out any crinkles in the paper. But if none of that works to your favor, here’s my additional process to cleaning up sketches! Hope this helps ya.
/EDIT/ The program used here is Photoshop CS4!

Hey, if you don’t mind sharing, I’ve always wondered how you got that soft celling look on your characters in your comic. Any tips? I’m currently working on my own comic and I kind of want to go for a less harsh form of cell shading. Thanks!

A couple people have asked about the way I color things and I’ve been meaning to post a tutorial on it :]. I’ve never been too good at describing my process, but I hope this helps!

ok so I literally just made the best discovery of my artistic career
it’s basically an easy to use pose-making program with a doll. You can pose it in any pose you can imagine and view it from any angle
and this program is entirely FREE
it’s a bit of a thing to get installed and set up so I’ll write a tutorial for it later but
holy shit guys
i made that pose you see up there in like 5-6 minutes. This is fucking revolutionary. I have such a problem with poses and this is a toy that is better than any artist mannequin you can have irl. Holy shit.
http://www.daz3d.com/
it’s called daz studio 4.5 and it’s in the free section if you wanna try to install it without me explaining

Oh man! This is awesome, thank you!

THERE IS A GOD

holy shit thank you for sharing!!

As with all bases, please keep in mind that these things aren’t the most accurate things in the world, and you should really just use them more of seeing where the limbs are placed, and not really how they’re depicted per se.

Hey kids!  If you’re a filmmaker, animator, or storyboard artist and you don’t know what screen direction is, you might want to read this.

For the record, there are always exceptions to the rule in filmmaking, which is why I pointed out 3 examples here.

I’ve also found that comic books tend to NOT take screen direction as seriously as film does, but I’m still on the fence if this is wise or not.  My favorite comics pay close attention to screen direction so as to not confuse the reader.

Good luck!

broadfields asked you: Could you possibly do a mouth tutorial? Unless you’ve already done so. In that case, possibly pointing me in the right direction? :]

I wash my hands of this. It’s evidence of my piss-poor design skills.

This is why I normally draw skulls first and then a face on top of it.

haha

HAHAHAHAHA

Of course I would reblog this are you all daft

Fantastic tutorial!
